The Author’s Writing Process

Each individual writer has a different writing process. A novice writer will need to experiment with different techniques to find out what works for them. An experienced writer may benefit from changing their process when suffering from the dreaded writer’s block. Whether the writer begins early in the morning with a cup of strong coffee or late at night with an energy drink, there are some practices that are important parts of every writer’s process.

For writers, reading, especially reading in the genre that they are writing in, is an important part of the writing process.
Writer Maurice Jordan exemplifies crucial aspects of the writing process: research and outlining.
After doing the preliminary research and outlining, Jordan sits down and begins putting words on a screen.
Perhaps the hardest part of the writing process is setting aside distractions and focusing on the task at hand.
